Parasite Exposure & Symptom Check

The check takes about three minutes.

Most parasite quizzes online add up a long list of symptoms into one total score. We ask two separate questions instead. Have you been somewhere you could have picked up a parasite? And is your body doing the things a parasite tends to make it do? We keep the two scores separate. Bloating means one thing if you drank from a stream in India last month, and something else if you didn't.

Every question comes from a clinical source. Some questions from other quizzes are missing on purpose. At the end of the check we list them and explain why we dropped each one.

Pattern

What this pattern usually means

What we left out, and why

Other parasite quizzes ask about the full moon, sugar cravings, teeth grinding, dark circles, eye floaters, or nose picking. We went looking for the evidence behind each one. For the full moon, sugar cravings, floaters, dark circles, and nose picking, we found nothing in any clinical source. Teeth grinding has one small study in children and none in adults, so it's here at the lowest weight, with that note. Letting a pet lick your face sits near the top of many lists. The documented risk is small, and it comes from soil and fur, not saliva, so we ask about deworming and the bed instead. That is why some questions you expected are missing.

This check is an educational self-assessment. It isn't a diagnosis, it isn't a test, and it doesn't replace an examination by a physician. A score in any range doesn't mean you do or don't have a parasite. Only a lab test can answer that. Filling this out doesn't make you our patient. The check was written by Dr. Edward Vernon, DACM, L.Ac., a licensed acupuncturist. New York law asks licensed acupuncturists to advise every patient of the importance of consulting a licensed physician about their condition. The results above repeat that advice wherever the pattern calls for it.
